Angelica Lutheran Church Affiliations

Angelica practices and teaches the beliefs of the Lutheran religion which is a major branch of Western Christianity that identifies with the theology of Martin Luther, a German reformer. Luther’s efforts to reform the theology and practice of the Roman Catholic Church launched the Protestant Reformation in the 16th century.

There are currently an estimated 75 million Lutherans Worldwide, with over 7 million in the United States – which equates to over 5% of the U.S. Christian population. They are spread out among roughly 20 different Lutheran church bodies in the U.S., however, over 95% belong to just three church bodies – Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS), and the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS).

Angelica is a member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS), and is also a member of The English District – which is one of the oldest districts of the LCMS. These two affiliations hold true to the Evangelical teachings and biblical theology of Lutheranism.
