Paying For College

Your son or daughter has turned 16 and it suddenly hits you -- how are we going to pay for a college education? Whether you go to a state school, private or Christian college, the financial undertaking is not for the faint-hearted.

You are not the first to deal with this nor the last. Lutheran colleges are committed to making education affordable. Every Lutheran college offers its students more grant aid than do state and federal government programs combined. Put it all together, and you’ve got a lot of help.

Lutheran Colleges save you money?

Survey Says: 40% of public university grads take more than 4 years to complete college compared to 82% at Lutheran colleges finishing on time. Result? Less tuition cost and earlier entrance into the work force and earnings potential.

When asked how they paid for college, Lutheran college graduates were far more likely to have received a scholarship than public university graduates, were equally likely to have held a campus job, and were somewhat more likely to have taken out a student loan. And when asked whether those loans were a good investment, 99.65 percent of Lutheran college alumni said, “yes.”

Attend a Lutheran College Fair

Students and their parents have an opportunity to meet with college representatives to discuss the advantages of a Lutheran education. Each fair includes a financial aid seminar for parents. Click Here to find dates, times and location near you.

Be Optimistic

First, realize that price is not the same as cost. That doesn’t mean you can bargain the price down, but realize that financial aid packages average over $10,000.

Second, get an early start on researching the situation. The earlier you begin, the more time you will have to find scholarships and grants. Your high school guidance counselor can help too.
