Our Organist and Director of Music
David Hufford, a native of Toledo, OH, earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Organ Performance as a student of Dr. Marilyn Mason at the University of Michigan; where he also studied Carillon with Margo Halsted and Conducting with Jerry Blackstone and Theo Morrison. A frequently-heard recitalist in the Southeast Michigan/Northwest Ohio area, he has held church organist positions since age sixteen, and has been the Organist/Director of Music at Angelica Lutheran Church since 1996. He was the recipient of First Prize in the 1993 University of Michigan Keyboard Day Scholarship Competition, and a winner in the 1996 Jean and Broadus Staley National Hymm-Playing Competition. In 1995, he was named as the first recipient of the James Harris Organ Scholarship at the University of Michigan, and, in 1997, was awarded the Marilyn Mason Organ Scholarship. David was a featured recitalist for the 1995 National Convention of the Organ Historical Society in Detroit, and selections from this and other live performances are available on Organ Historical Society and CaBalettA labels. He is co-owner of the Renaissance Pipe Organ Company in Ann Arbor, MI.
