Confirmation Classes
What is Confirmation?
Confirmation is a public rite of the church, for which students have spent time in instruction, designed to help them identify with the life and mission of the Christian Church. Prior to receiving the Lord’s Supper, it is proper to be instructed in the Christian faith. The Rite of Confirmation provides an opportunity for the individual Christian, relying on God’s promise given in Holy Baptism, to make a personal public profession of the faith and a lifelong pledge of faithfulness to Christ.
Confirmation is closely related to Baptism. The confirmand repeats with their own lips the confession of faith and the promise of faithfulness which were made for them by their Godparents at their baptism. The Lutheran Church considers confirmation specials as an occasion which encourages all of us to faithfulness.
Pastor Holls teaches one semester of confirmation classes a year. The class meets 30 times a year, normally one day a week. Confirmation classes are customarily held for children between the ages of 12 and 16. If an adult or older child would like to be confirmed, Pastor Holls does hold adult confirmation classes when needs meet.
Here is an example of what is expected of all students in confirmation class at Angelica:
