February Meeting: Mark your calendar and join the Women’s Guild at their next meeting on Wednesday, February 5 at 1:00. All are welcome to attend. Bring a smile, your ideas and your willingness to help with projects. Then stay and enjoy the dessert served after the meeting. They are always scrumptiously delicious. Or, just stay after the meeting and enjoy the company.
Bake Sale: On Sunday, February 9, the Women’s Guild is hosting a bake sale after each church service. Stop by and buy some famously delicious bake goods. And if you enjoy baking, donated baked goods are always appreciated. Please bring them to the church on Saturday, February 8 between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. If that time is inconvenient, or if you have any questions, please contact Lorraine Rupp.
Woman of the Year: As mentioned in another section of this newsletter, Betty Nixdorf will be honored, along with the honorees from other sister churches, as Women of the Year. The date is Tuesday, March 18, 2014 and the location is the Sterling Inn in Sterling Heights. This is the 50th anniversary of the Council of Lutheran Women that hosts the event. Entertainment will be provided by Kristine Stout who is a solo bell ringer from Clinton Township. The price for the luncheon tickets is $24.00, a portion of which will be used for the council’s scholarship program that supports future pastors and deaconesses.
Please help us honor Betty and, at the same time, enjoy the fellowship of attendees from other congregations. There is a sign-up form in the narthex.
LWML Convention: The 36th Biennial English District Lutheran Women’s Missionary League Convention will be held May 2-4, 2014 in Countryside, Illinois; a suburb of Chicago. The theme for the convention will be” Life Giving Water, Forever” which is based on Revelation 21:6. Consider attending because the conventions provide a great time, the opportunity to learn about other congregations across the US and Canada, many opportunities to socialize and meet new people, and, even more importantly, the opportunity to learn more about LWML and how it shares our faith with the world. Talk to Lorraine Rupp about attending – she has attended many of the conventions. Additional information will be in future bulletins. If interested please contact Lorraine.
