On Sunday, April 6, 2014, at 7:30p.m., the Detroit Lutheran Singers will once again fill Angelica’s sanctuary with glorious vocal music. Angelica had the wonderful opportunity to host the DLS about ten years ago, and we are blessed to have them return. The Detroit Lutheran Singers is an outstanding group of musicians who sing excellent choral selections to the Glory of God. The Detroit Lutheran Singers are conducted by Chris Hall and accompanied by Doris Hall. The details are as follows:

“Grace and Peace”

The Detroit Lutheran Singers will celebrate these gifts of God in its concert series this spring.  Plan for an inspiring evening of outstanding sacred choral music.

The featured works on this program are J.S. Bach’s motet, “Jesu, Meine Freude” (literally, “Jesus, My Joy” or “My Delight”, known to audiences as “Jesus, Priceless Treasure”), and “Create in Me” by K. Lee Scott, an anthem commissioned by the DLS in recognition of and appreciation for the leadership of retired director, Eric Freudigman, who, during his 38 years as director, brought the DLS to recognition as one of the outstanding choral groups in the metro Detroit area.

Current director Christopher Hall has continued the tradition of excellence in the performance of sacred choral music.  Mr. Hall, a member of DLS for more than 25 years, recently retired as Director of Music at FirstUnitedMethodistChurch in Birmingham after twenty-plus years.  During all his years with DLS, his wife, Doris, has been DLS’s versatile and accomplished accompanist.

Tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for seniors and students twelve and older (children under twelve, free). The church office has tickets available for purchase. They will also be sold at the door, purchased in advance from DLS members, or bought online at www.detroitlutheransingers.com. You may also visit the website for general information about DLS and the full list of anthems for this concert.
